Sheriff David Allison with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of K-9 Officer Max.
Max was born on January 1, 2011 and became a member of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office in August 2014.
K-9 Max had two partners in his tenure, Sergeant Brian Anthony and Deputy Daniel Quave.
K-9 Max is credited with finding several hundred pounds of methamphetamine and marijuana along with multiple apprehensions.
He retired in April of 2022 due to complications of his hips and legs. and he passed away on December 26, 2022.


Sergeant Brian Anthony gave tribute to K-9 Max by writing a poem for him,
I will miss you, my friendYou were faithful to the endThank you for always having my backWe walked miles together on many a trackThrough the briers and the mudYou were my best budYour bark in the patrol unit so loudIt was obvious being on the job made you proudI thank you for your service my friendNow in your final rest, your watch is at the end.
The Sheriff said that everyone at the Department was proud of K-9 Max and glad to see him on patrol, he will be missed dearly.
