At 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the area of South Lamar in Oxford after getting calls of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Officers arrived and began rendering aide to the victim that had been hit.
While investigating the scene, officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Samuel Jared Brown (24).
The police suspected that Brown was driving under the influence.
Officers also determined that Brown had left the roadway before striking the victim, who was walking in the grass.
The pedestrian was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi and subsequently flown to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN.
He is currently considered to be in stable condition.
Brown has been arrested and charged with Aggravated DUI and open container, and was given a bond of $25,000 by a Lafayette County Justice Court judge.
