UPDATE: Third Suspect Charged With Murder, Aggravated Assault After Utica Night Club Shooting

UPDATE: 48-year-old Anthony Brown was arrested yesterday evening and charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault following his release from medical treatment at UMMC. He was also shot multiple times during the incident. This brings the total arrests made to three at this point. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges and/or arrests are possible.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, in a press conference Monday morning, one person was killed and five people in total were shot at a nightclub in Utica Sunday night.

The shooting happened just before midnight at the Sugar Shack Club at 1022 Lee Davis Circle.

41-year-old Jason Harris was identified as the person who died in the shooting. He died on the scene.

Harris’s brother, 42-year-old Eric Dixon, has been identified as one of the suspects in this shooting. He has been charged with Murder and three counts of Aggravated Assault.

34-year-old Joseph Crum was also charged with Murder and three counts of Aggravated Assault.

The four others who were shot have been identified.

Sheriff Jones said three of the victims were caught in the crossfire.

53-year-old Michael Brown was taken to UMMC and is in serious condition

23-year-old Deirdre Williams was grazed by a bullet on her neck. She has been treated and released.

22-year-old Lorenzo Carter was shot was shot in the leg, taken to the hospital, and released.

Anthony Brown was shot multiple times and is currently in the hospital is listed in stable condition.

23 shell casings were found at the scene and several guns were seized by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Jones said this is an active investigation and more arrests are possible.
