On Monday, Ridgeland Police responded to a shooting at the Wingate Hotel (6485 I-55 Frontage N).

Several friends and acquaintances were having a party in one of the rooms when they got into an argument.

A verbal fight turned physical and 21-year-old Johnterrius Demond Murriel from Jackson, shot and killed 18-year-old Jamarison Keshawn Rogers of Jackson.

Murriel was taken into custody within three hours of the incident. He is being held at the Madison County Jail with no bond.
