MISSING IN MISSISSIPPI: James Abel Pryor, Jones County

Missing in Mississippi: James Pryor, Jones County
James Abel Pryor

For almost a decade, nobody has heard from James Pryor.

The redheaded 25-year-old had been in trouble with the law off and on, but circumstances of his disappearance led law enforcement to consider him a missing person rather than a fugitive.

According to missing persons websites like missingsippi.org, Pryor’s last known contact with family and loved ones was at a family gathering on Trace Road in northern Jones County in April 2015. Charleyproject.org said his family reported him missing in September, five months later.

Roughly a month later, one of Pryor’s father’s employees was hunting on Pryor family land and saw what looked like a truck hood under some vegetation. He soon discovered it was Pryor’s truck.

After he hadn’t been heard from in almost five years, a Jones County circuit judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest in 2020, and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department employed some new technology to look into his disappearance in 2023. Still, no sign of James Pryor.

If you know anything about the disappearance of James Pryor, please contact the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 601-425-3147.
