An investigation by the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit (STING) uncovered a major methamphetamine trafficking organization, leading to multiple arrests.
The operation, which began in 2023 and extended into 2024, targeted the organization from its customer base to its top leaders and supply source.
During the investigation, agents uncovered that the organization was responsible for obtaining multiple pounds of methamphetamine, breaking it down into smaller quantities, and distributing it throughout Lowndes County. The operation resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine.
Eric Green, identified as the head of the organization, recently pleaded guilty in Lowndes County Circuit Court to Aggravated Trafficking of Methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Andrew Clay of Moorhead, MS, believed to be the organization’s primary supplier, also faced trial. Clay used the Highway 82 corridor to transport methamphetamine from the Mississippi Delta Region to Lowndes County.
Clay was arrested during a traffic stop where agents seized approximately four pounds of methamphetamine.
On November 19-20, after a two-day trial, Clay was found guilty and sentenced to 40 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Assistant District Attorney Marc Amos prosecuted the case, and STING agents and patrol deputies testified during the trial. Additional members of the organization are still awaiting trial.
