Three suspects have been arrested after a series of vehicle burglaries and thefts in Tupelo residential areas.

The Tupelo Police Department began investigating the incidents on November 19 after receiving multiple reports, including two stolen vehicles.

While officers were gathering information, one of the stolen vehicles was detected entering Tupelo city limits via a license plate reader. Police located and stopped the vehicle in the Barnes Crossing area, arresting the occupants. During the arrest, a second stolen vehicle, tied to the same crimes, nearly struck a patrol car. Officers pursued the vehicle through Tupelo and apprehended another suspect.

Following further investigation, 22-year-old Jordan H. Smith, 20-year-old Jakius B. Coleman, 19-year-old and Taellis Edwards, all of Tupelo, were charged with two counts of Grand Larceny: Taking of a Motor Vehicle and three counts of Burglary of a Vehicle.

On November 20, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Smith, who was already out on a felony bond, to be held without bond. Coleman was assigned a $120,000 bond, and Edwards received a $100,000 bond. Authorities have indicated that additional charges and arrests may occur as investigations with neighboring jurisdictions continue.

These cases will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further action.
