The BEST word a dog can hear echoed through the halls of the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in Jackson, Mississippi this week: ADOPTED!
After a long journey…and we mean a LONG journey, a sweet dog named Kahlua was finally adopted.
Kahlua came to ARF as a puppy with several of her siblings, who were quickly adopted. For some reason, while her siblings all ended up finding their families, Kahlua waited. And waited. She waited for an incredible 4,597 days—over 12 years.
The sweet girl stayed at the no-kill shelter in Jackson watching other dogs find their forever home and was loved by shelter workers and volunteers.
She watched other dogs find their people, and countless people walk by her kennel.
Finally…this week, Kahlua’s world completely changed when a couple, Emily and Justin, decided to welcome her into their family.
This sweet senior girl is now living the spoiled life. Her family said she watches Amazon Prime from her fuzzy bed in her warm home with a family that loves her.
She is living her best life. This adoption story is a beautiful reminder of the magic that happens when animals find their forever homes, no matter how long it takes.
Please think about going to your closest animal shelter and asking for the dog who has been there the longest. Find the dog that has almost given up on hope and give them the second chance they so deserve.
I promise you will find the best and most loyal friend you have ever met. We don’t deserve dogs.
