A man wanted in South Carolina on four warrants for Exploitation of a Minor was arrested on October 31, by Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Josfat Salomon Martinez, also known as Miguel Sierra, was tracked to Lowndes County after a tip from a Charleston County detective with the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Authorities apprehended Martinez at a home on Juanita Street in Columbus.
During the investigation, detectives seized two cell phones containing images and videos of child sexual abuse. Martinez admitted ownership of the devices and has been charged with two counts of Exploitation of Children in Lowndes County, with a bond set at $250,000.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins praised the cooperation with ICAC and the U.S. Marshals, emphasizing the commitment to protecting children from exploitation.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges.
