Earlier this morning, Meridian High School was placed on lockdown following reports of shots fired in the vicinity. MPSD Campus Police quickly responded to the scene and confirmed that no injuries occurred on campus.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that a vehicle parked on campus had been targeted, suspected to be an act of vandalism. MPSD Campus Police, in conjunction with the Meridian Police Department, are actively investigating the incident.
One individual has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. However, police are still searching for an additional suspect who fled the area on foot.
“We want to reassure parents and the community that students and staff are safe on campus,” said MPSD Campus Police Chief Cornelius Parks.
