Two Teens Arrested After Shooting at South Mississippi Fair

A shooting at the South Mississippi Fair on Friday, October 20, left one person wounded and resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Akealeis McKensie and Jailen Shade, both 18, are in custody at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility.

The shooting happened at approximately 11:00 PM near the fairgrounds. Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene, apprehending the two teenager. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby medical facility and is reportedly in stable condition.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department said the incident has raised concerns among fairgoers and local residents, with many expressing shock that such violence occurred at a family event. Investigations are still ongoing as law enforcement works to determine the exact circumstances leading to the shooting.
