Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the sentencing of Jimmie Ray Fields of Lucedale, for child exploitation charges.
The case, investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with support from the Lucedale Police Department, was prosecuted by both the Attorney General’s Office and the George County District Attorney’s Office.
Attorney General Fitch emphasized the importance of collaboration in the fight to protect children from predators.
“This office is proud to partner with law enforcement and prosecutors from around the State to protect Mississippi’s children from predators,” Fitch said. “Together, we are making Mississippi a safer place for everyone. If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”
On October 2, George County Circuit Court Judge Calvin Taylor sentenced Fields to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
The sentence pertains to 25 counts of child exploitation for possession of child sexual abuse material, with each count carrying a 40-year sentence to be served concurrently.
Fields will serve his sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
This case is part of ongoing efforts by Mississippi law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
