On Tuesday, March 12, 2023, Officers with the Byram Police Department were informed by witnesses of two men wearing hoodies and ski masks who were pulling on vehicle doors at the Byram Dragway on Siwell Road.
Officers immediately spotted those individuals in the act of breaking into a vehicle.
The suspects immediately took off running, while throwing several stolen possessions.
After a brief foot pursuit both suspects were apprehended.
Normon Dwayne Turner, Jr along with a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested on scene.
After canvassing the path that both suspects ran, officers recovered several stolen firearms, along with personal possessions that were stolen out of vehicles earlier that evening at the track.
It was later discovered that Turner was a convicted felon and was out on a felony bond for Contraband in a Penal Institution through Hinds County.
Norman was not given a bond at his initial appearance and is being held at the Hinds County Detention Center.
