Today, the Hwy 49 bridge under the I59 overpass, southbound was struck, resulting in structural damage to the bridge.
The Hattiesburg Police Department said that all southbound traffic on 49 will be closed until MDOT inspects the damage to the overpass.
Motorists should use caution while in the area.
An update will be shared when the scene is cleared and the lanes are opened.
