ARF of Mississippi seeks help after transport bus breaks down before veterinary trip

JACKSON – Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi is asking for help after its transport bus broke down Thursday morning, forcing the organization to cancel a scheduled trip to Mississippi State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

ARF regularly works with the university’s Shelter Medicine Program to have dogs and cats spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption.

According to the organization, staff were loading animals onto “Bessie the Bus” for an early-morning trip when a hose blew, spilling transmission fluid and coolant.

The trip was canceled, and the bus was towed by Ward’s Wrecker Service to Tony’s Tire and Automotive for repairs.

ARF said the tow and repairs are expected to cost about $3,000.

The organization is asking supporters to help cover the expense so the bus can return to service and future veterinary trips can be rescheduled.

Tax-deductible donations can be mailed to ARF of Mississippi at 395 W. Mayes St., Jackson, MS 39213, or sent through PayPal to [email protected].
