Pearl police arrest Texas man wanted on child sex offense charge after Crime Stoppers tip

PEARL – Pearl police arrested a Texas man wanted on a child sex offense charge after receiving an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, according to the Pearl Police Department.

Police said the tip came in Sept. 29 and identified Alejandro Santos-Herrera, who was wanted out of Montgomery County, Texas, on a charge of indecency with a child/sexual contact.

Investigators with the department’s Special Operations Division began working to locate Santos-Herrera and, within several hours, identified a vehicle believed to be connected to him and developed information about a possible residence.

On Sept. 30, investigators spotted the vehicle traveling north on Pearson Road.

Police said officers approached Santos-Herrera as he arrived at the residence, but he ran inside. After a brief period, he came back outside and was taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, police said they also confirmed Santos-Herrera was unlawfully present in the United States.

He was booked at the Pearl Police Department before being transported to the Rankin County Jail.

Santos-Herrera is now awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, Texas.

Pearl police thanked the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the investigation and credited the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip with helping officers quickly develop leads and locate the suspect.
