DESOTO COUNTY – The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of a longtime member of its extended law enforcement family following what the agency described as a “horrific accident.”
The sheriff’s office announced the death of Chandler Magee, who had been involved with the agency through several programs over the years.
Magee was a member of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program until he turned 20. He later completed the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy and continued serving the agency as a Volunteers in Police Service, or VIPS, volunteer.
His commitment to service was shared by his family. According to the sheriff’s office, Magee served alongside his wife, mother, father and sister.
“Service truly became a family commitment for the Magees,” the sheriff’s office said.
The agency remembered Magee for his dedication, willingness to serve and love for his family.
“We are grateful for the time we had with him and will continue to keep his family in our prayers,” the sheriff’s office said.
