Adams County woman found dead after vehicle enters pond near Selma Estates Road

ADAMS COUNTY – An Adams County woman was found dead Sunday morning after her vehicle left the roadway and entered a pond in the Selma Estates area, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were called around 10:19 a.m. after Adams County E-911 received a report of a vehicle in a pond near Selma Estates Road.

Deputies and first responders arrived and found the vehicle partially submerged.

The driver was identified as Sue Ann Wilt, a resident of Selma Estates.

Investigators said preliminary information indicates Wilt’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and came to rest in the pond. She was later found deceased outside the vehicle.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office responded to recover Wilt’s body and assist with the investigation.

Authorities said there are no indications of foul play at this time.

Investigators are also aware that Wilt had a pre-existing medical condition that may have contributed to the incident, but the exact circumstances and cause remain under investigation.

Sheriff Travis Patten thanked the agencies and neighbors who responded and reported the incident, including the Natchez Fire Department, Adams County Search and Rescue, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Adams County Emergency Management, Adams County E-911 and the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing.
