PASCAGOULA – Multiple bomb threats were called in Friday morning involving two locations near Jackson County government buildings in Pascagoula, according to WLOX.
Pascagoula Police Chief Terry Scott told WLOX one caller claimed a bomb had been placed under the coroner’s truck outside the coroner’s office on Majure Drive.
Another caller reportedly said a bomb had been left on School Street, across from the Jackson County Government Services Complex, where the sheriff’s office, district attorney’s office and board of supervisors are located.
Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd told WLOX that his office and the county health department offices were evacuated around 10:30 a.m. The buildings were later cleared.
The Jackson County Government Services Complex was not evacuated.
Authorities said K-9 teams searched the area but found no explosive device or other dangerous item. Scott said the buildings and surrounding areas were also searched and determined to be safe.
Officials have not confirmed whether the two threats were connected.
WLOX reported that Jackson County public officials have received several threats since the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells. Several people have been charged in connection with threats involving people tied to that case.
