GREENVILLE – A Greenville man has been arrested in connection with a domestic violence-related incident involving gunfire that happened last month, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 11:28 p.m. Aug. 22 to the 500 block of South Colorado Street after receiving a shots-fired alert and a call for service.
Officers spoke with a woman who reported that she had been involved in an altercation with her boyfriend, identified by police as Rynaren Ferguson.
Investigators said the altercation began inside the residence and became physical. Ferguson allegedly struck the woman before leaving the home.
Police said Ferguson then allegedly damaged the woman’s 2020 Honda Accord by throwing objects at it. Investigators said he later produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking the rear windshield, rear quarter panel and radiator.
Ferguson left before officers arrived, police said.
Officers found four spent 9mm shell casings and one live 9mm cartridge at the scene. The department’s Criminal Investigation Division took over the case.
Ferguson was arrested Sept. 24 without incident.
He is being held at the Washington Regional Correctional Facility while awaiting an initial court appearance.
Police did not list the specific charges Ferguson is facing in the release.
Ferguson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
