JACKSON — Jackson police have arrested a second suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for a third in connection with the death of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune, whose body was found hanging from a tree in Jackson last month.

Earnest Lloyd Jr., 25, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder for his alleged role in Fortune’s death, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Fortune’s body was discovered Aug. 3 in the 500 block of Road of Remembrance. Investigators found her in a hanging position from a tree behind a vacant house.

Police said detectives have spent hundreds of hours investigating the circumstances surrounding Fortune’s death. Investigators have interviewed as many as 15 people, collected and preserved forensic evidence and followed numerous leads.

Authorities have also obtained an arrest warrant for a third suspect. That person’s name has not been released, and the warrant has been turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service for service.

Police said additional warrants are expected as the investigation continues.
