SCOTT COUNTY — Five people were arrested Tuesday after Scott County investigators and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents executed a search warrant near the 2000 block of Old Jackson Road, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sept. 22 operation involved the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics Division, Special Response Team and school resource officers, along with agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Authorities said the operation resulted in five arrests connected to two outstanding indictments. Investigators also made arrests involving allegations of seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and falsifying information to a law enforcement officer.
The Sheriff’s Office said the location was in close proximity to a school.
“This operation is another example of what can happen when investigators, narcotics officers, state agents, and our community work together,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities thanked the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for its continued assistance in identifying and addressing alleged illegal activity in Scott County.
The Sheriff’s Office encouraged residents to report information about suspected criminal activity, saying information from the community can assist investigators in removing dangerous individuals and illegal activity from the streets.
The investigation remains ongoing.
