JACKSON — The Jackson Branch NAACP has canceled a ReBUILDing Jackson community workshop scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21, and plans to reschedule the event for a later date.
The workshop, titled “Jackson’s Water Story: From the Pipes Beneath Us to the Future of Our Water System,” was scheduled for the Peggy Hobson Calhoun/Willowood Community Center. A new date, time and location will be announced once arrangements are finalized.
The ReBUILDing Jackson Community Workshop Series will continue Monday, Sept. 28, with a discussion titled “When the Hydrant Runs Dry: Water Quality, Health & Neighborhood Safety.”
The Sept. 28 workshop will begin at 6 p.m. at Jackson Medical Mall, Room C311, 350 W. Woodrow Wilson Ave.
The discussion will focus on Wards 3 and 7 but is open to all Jackson residents. Topics will include water pressure and hydrant reliability, water quality, public health concerns, aging infrastructure and the relationship between Jackson’s water system and neighborhood safety.
“We appreciate the community’s continued interest in the ReBUILDing Jackson series,” said Felicia Tripp, chair of the Jackson Branch NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Committee. “Although we must reschedule the September 21 workshop, we look forward to bringing residents together again on September 28 to continue these important conversations about the infrastructure, health and safety issues affecting our neighborhoods.”
The workshop series is presented by the Jackson Branch NAACP in partnership with the Jackson Association of Neighborhoods and is designed to give residents an opportunity to learn about community issues, ask questions and share their experiences.
The Sept. 28 event is free and open to the public. Free food, including vegan options, will be provided.
Residents can RSVP and find additional information at Jackson Branch NAACP.
