JACKSON – A man was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after being shot in the ankle on Downing Street, according to Capitol Police.
Officers responded to a report of a possible shooting around 1:09 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound to his ankle.
Police said the victim was alert and responsive. He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or information about a possible suspect.
The investigation remains active, and Capitol Police said no additional details are available at this time.
