MERIDIAN – Kelton Webb has been arrested in connection with the June 25, 2025, murder of Lazarus Brown in the 4500 block of 25th Court.

Webb is charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and shooting into a dwelling. Bond is set at $1.25 million.
Investigators continued working the case and credited information from the community with helping lead to the arrest. The Meridian Police Department also thanked the Texas Department of Public Safety for its assistance in locating Webb and helping return him to Meridian, Mississippi.
Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said the arrests send a clear message.
“If you commit a violent crime in our city, we will follow the evidence and we will find you,” Thompson said. “It doesn’t matter if you live in Meridian, another county, or another state. You will be held accountable. Leaving our city does not end the investigation.”
Mayor Percy Bland praised Meridian police officers, investigators, and citizens who provided information.
“Our officers and investigators are working tirelessly, but public safety takes all of us,” Thompson said. “We appreciate the citizens who continue to step forward and help us hold people accountable.”
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Meridian, Mississippi police department will announce more arrests this week.
