RANKIN COUNTY – Three people were arrested Tuesday after a multi-agency search for suspects tied to a residential burglary in Madison County, according to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3 p.m. Sept. 15, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison Police Department issued a BOLO for two men suspected in the burglary.
Authorities said the suspects were believed to be traveling into Rankin County on Spillway Road in a Dodge Caravan with blacked-out windows.
Deputies and officers from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, Flowood Police Department, Madison Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area.
A Rankin County K-9 deputy located the vehicle on Old Fannin Road and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to stop.
Additional law enforcement units joined the pursuit as the vehicle fled into the Dogwood Festival area of Flowood.
Authorities said the vehicle eventually stopped and the occupants ran from the scene.
Officers chased the suspects on foot and took all three into custody. One was arrested near the vehicle, another while allegedly attempting to enter a business and the third after entering a restaurant.
All three were transported to the Rankin County Jail and booked on felony fleeing charges.
They were later released to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to face burglary charges connected to the original investigation.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey praised the cooperation between the agencies involved, saying the arrests showed the importance of communication between law enforcement jurisdictions.
The suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
