JASPER COUNTY — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department will host two parent forums this month focused on drug use, vaping and online threats targeting children.

The forums will cover the dangers of vaping and what organizers describe as the latest drug, “Cob,” along with information about popular apps that can pose risks to minors.

The first forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the Bay Springs Courthouse, 27 W. Eighth Ave. A second forum will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Paulding Courthouse, 1782 Highway 503.

Sheriff Randy Johnson said the forums are intended to give parents an opportunity to ask questions and learn about emerging threats facing children.

“This is your chance to ask questions and be educated on the latest threats,” Johnson said.

Jasper County District Attorney Chris Hennis is also scheduled to attend and discuss the legal ramifications associated with the issues being addressed.

The sheriff’s department is encouraging parents to attend and become familiar with the dangers children may encounter.

“For your children’s sake, please attend, ask questions and be aware of the dangers of today,” Johnson said.
