Booneville man charged in Prentiss County child molestation investigation

PRENTISS COUNTY – A Booneville man has been arrested following an investigation into allegations involving a 4-year-old child, according to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the investigation began after a report that the child had allegedly been inappropriately touched.

The child later participated in a forensic interview, during which investigators said a disclosure was made.

Based on the investigation, affidavits were signed and a warrant was issued for 39-year-old Cristofer Clinton Carpenter of Booneville.

Carpenter was arrested and charged with one count of molesting, specifically touching a child or mentally defective person for a lustful purpose.

Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop set Carpenter’s bond at $100,000, cash or professional bond only. He was also ordered to have no contact with the child or the child’s family.

The case will be presented to the next Prentiss County grand jury.

Carpenter is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
