GREENVILLE – A man accused of threatening someone with an AK-style firearm, leading officers on a high-speed chase and later firing shots at police has been taken into custody following a standoff, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Quincy Tyrone Eaton.
The investigation began with a domestic-related incident Sept. 8 on East Moore Street. Police said Eaton allegedly entered a residence and threatened a victim with an AK-style firearm.
Authorities said Eaton later fled from officers, leading police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing on Flanagan Road.
After the crash, police said Eaton allegedly ran into a field while armed with a rifle.
During the search, officers reported that multiple shots were fired at them, forcing them to take cover.
Police said Eaton was later located, and after a standoff, he was taken into custody around 11 a.m. Thursday.
Eaton is facing several felony charges from both the Greenville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities said specific charges will be released as the investigation continues.
The Greenville Police Department thanked the other law enforcement agencies and personnel that assisted in the case.
Eaton is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
