NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a man was shot and later died from his injuries Wednesday.
Natchez Police Department officers responded to a residence on Hunters Lane regarding a reported shooting.
Officers found Wilbert Riggs, 63, suffering from a gunshot wound. Riggs was transported to Merit Health Natchez for treatment but later died from his injuries.
Following a preliminary investigation, police identified Jasmine Buchanan, 31, as the person alleged to have fired the weapon. Buchanan was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence and information. Police said additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
