GREENVILLE – A man has been arrested after police say he was found inside a secured area of a Greenville automobile dealership early Tuesday morning.

According to the Greenville Police Department, officers were called to Delta Chevrolet at 1009 Highway 82 East around 1:17 a.m. Sept. 8 after receiving a report of a suspicious person inside the fenced rear portion of the business.

When officers arrived, they said they saw a man, later identified as Vincent Thomas, inside the secured area.

Police said Thomas attempted to hide between and underneath vehicles before eventually making his way under the perimeter fence.

Officers set up a perimeter and later located Thomas near a neighboring business, where he was detained without further incident.

During the investigation, officers found evidence they said indicated vehicles inside the dealership had been unlawfully entered. Two Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks showed signs consistent with burglary, according to police.

Additional evidence believed to be connected to the incident was also collected.

Thomas was taken to the Greenville Police Department and booked on a charge of business burglary.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional charges could be filed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Greenville Police Department at 662-378-1515 or Washington County Crime Stoppers.

Thomas is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
