ABERDEEN — Authorities are still searching for the person or people responsible for killing Anfernee Shakur Orr, also known as “Sixty,” as the anniversary of his death passed on Sept. 6.
Orr, 28, of Okolona, was shot and killed early on a Saturday morning one year ago in Aberdeen. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Monday it has spent countless hours assisting the Aberdeen Police Department with the investigation and will continue working the case.
Orr was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Evergreen Drive, just off South Meridian Street, after officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 2:30 a.m.
Orr had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at 2:33 a.m. by paramedics, according to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Pearl for an autopsy.
Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook previously appealed to anyone with information about Orr’s killing to come forward.
“Someone out there knows about this incident. We are pleading with you on behalf of the family to do the right thing,” Crook said. “I don’t believe Mr. Orr ever had a chance to defend himself, nor did he even know his assailant was coming for him that night. So the individual or individuals we are looking for are truly cowards!”
Crook said authorities would continue working to bring those responsible to justice but need the public’s help.
The sheriff’s office said Monday that investigators believe someone has information about the killing but has either kept it from authorities or provided investigators with false information.
Authorities are now asking those individuals again to come forward, either to Orr’s family or the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, to help bring closure and justice to his loved ones.
“We will not rest until the person(s) who did this are in our custody at the Monroe County Detention Center,” the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office also thanked Orr’s family for its patience and assistance throughout the investigation and said its thoughts remain with them as they continue to grieve.
