GULFPORT – An employee and a customer were killed Monday morning in a shooting at an AT&T store in Gulfport, according to WLOX.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victims as 31-year-old Shane Basquill of Kiln and 78-year-old Mary Anne Oberlies of Gulfport.

Switzer told WLOX that Basquill worked at the store and Oberlies was a customer.

The shooting happened around 11:14 a.m. inside the AT&T store at Crossroads Mall.

According to WLOX, a witness said the suspect, identified by Gulfport police as 71-year-old Samuel Jerome Andrews of Harrison County, pulled up outside the store, got out with a shotgun and walked toward the entrance.

The witness said Andrews fired through the door before going inside.

Gulfport police said Andrews then entered the store and opened fire, striking Basquill and Oberlies. Both died at the scene.

Police said three other people were inside the store at the time. Those who called 911 were able to provide a description of Andrews’ vehicle.

Responding officers later spotted the vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop, according to WLOX. Andrews was taken into custody without incident, and officers recovered a firearm.

Andrews is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on no bond for two counts of first-degree murder. He also received a $500,000 bond on one count of shooting into a crowd.

Police have not released a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing.

The AT&T store at 15243 Crossroads Parkway is expected to remain closed through Friday.

Andrews is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
