SAUCIER — Two Gulfport men were arrested and charged with burglary after Harrison County deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress near Old Highway 49 in Saucier, Sheriff Matt Haley announced Thursday.

Timothy Malone, 52, and Christopher Cowart, 41, were each charged with one felony count of burglary.

Deputies responded to the area near the 17000 block of Old Highway 49 after two men were reportedly seen breaking into a vacant trailer on the victim’s property, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators used photographs from cameras on the property and witness statements to obtain descriptions of the suspects and their possible vehicle. Deputies later located the vehicle nearby with Malone and Cowart inside, authorities said.

The tools allegedly used to gain entry to the trailer were also found in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. Some of the stolen property was recovered near the victim’s property.

Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Judge Albert Fountain set bond at $25,000 for each man.
