MERIDIAN — A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family of a 42-year-old Meridian woman who disappeared last week while visiting Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Bettina Johnson was last seen Sunday, Aug. 26, in the Martinsburg area, according to her family and a public appeal for information. Family and friends are now raising money to help cover travel, lodging and other expenses as they work to find her.
According to the fundraiser, Johnson was last seen wearing all black and walking on Royal Farm Road, off Grapevine Road.
The fundraiser was organized by Letitia Edwards of Meridian and will help Johnson’s family cover transportation, lodging, housing and search-related expenses, as well as care for Johnson’s children while the search continues.
“Right now, our family is living through every loved one’s nightmare, searching for answers while holding on to hope,” the fundraiser states. “Bettina is deeply loved, dearly missed, and constantly on our minds as we do everything we can to find her.”
Family and friends are asking the public to share Johnson’s information in hopes that it reaches someone who may have seen her or knows where she might be.
According to a public appeal reported by the Times-Virginian, Johnson was last seen Sunday morning near the Royal Farms store on Grapevine Road in Martinsburg, Berkeley County. She is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds.
The Times-Virginian reported that Johnson’s family and friends are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to call or text 601-889-0936.
The GoFundMe states that donations will allow Johnson’s loved ones to remain focused on the search while supporting her family at home.
“Our goal is to stay focused on what matters most: finding Bettina and supporting the people who love her during this incredibly painful time,” the fundraiser states.
Anyone unable to donate is encouraged to share Johnson’s information and the fundraiser to help spread awareness of her disappearance.
The search for Johnson remains ongoing, and further details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance have not been publicly released.
