CLINTON — One of the most prolific American Christian journalists will share a message about faith during the Spell Lecture at Mississippi Christian University, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, in Provine Chapel on MC’s Clinton campus.
Collin Hansen, vice president for content and editor-in-chief of the Gospel Coalition, will present “How Winston Churchill and C.S. Lewis Applied the Past to Preserve Our Future.” The lecture is sponsored by the MC Christian Studies department and the Institute for Christian Leadership.
Benjamin Goff, MC instructor of Christian Studies and assistant director of the Institute for Christian Leadership, said the annual Spell Lecture “provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to hear from prominent Christian voices and engage with important ideas that challenge them to think deeply about their faith and its implications for the world around them.”
Hansen serves as executive director of the Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics. He hosts the Gospelbound podcast, writes the weekly “Unseen Things” newsletter and has written and contributed to many books, including “Timothy Keller: His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation” and “Rediscover Church: Why the Body of Christ Is Essential.”
“Collin Hansen has spent years entertaining some of the most important questions the church faces today,” Goff said. “He has the rare ability to blend theological rigor and cultural awareness in a way that is accessible and beneficial for a wide audience.
“Through his leadership and work with the Gospel Coalition, Collin has helped build a tremendous wealth of resources from a wide range of Christian voices, equipping Christians to think deeply about their faith and faithfully engage the culture around them.”
Hansen, whose articles have been published by the “New York Times” and the “Washington Post,” is an adjunct professor at Beeson Divinity School, where he also co-chairs the advisory board. He has delivered commentary for CNN, Fox News, NPR, BBC, ABC News and PBS NewsHour. He has edited “The Gospel After Christendom,” “The AI Apocalypse,” and “The New City Catechism Devotional,” among other books.
