MONROE COUNTY — Two more people have been arrested in connection with a shooting and vehicle chase in the Liberty community that began with an apparent road-rage incident Aug. 16, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Joe Harriel Sartin, 37, has been charged with accessory after the fact and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was arrested Monday in Itawamba County by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office and is being held in the Monroe County Detention Center.
Amy Lynn Young, 56, of Nettleton, also has been arrested in connection with the investigation. She was found in Florida and faces three counts of aggravated assault and one count of witness intimidation.
Young is the mother of 18-year-old Chadwick Brady Humble, who was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting and chase.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Liberty Road after receiving reports that someone in a vehicle was shooting at another vehicle traveling on Airline Road.
The occupants of the other vehicle told deputies that Humble had chased them from Mike’s Quick Stop on Airline Road in a tan GMC Yukon. They said Humble fired shots at them, struck the rear of their vehicle with his vehicle and caused it to leave the roadway and enter a ditch. The occupants said Humble then fired at them again.
Deputies reported finding what appeared to be a bullet hole in the other vehicle’s left front fender.
Deputies later located a vehicle matching the description of Humble’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Liberty Road and attempted to stop it.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies reported finding a Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine and evidence that the weapon had been fired. They also reported finding cash and a small amount of marijuana.
Humble was arrested and charged with aggravated assault involving the use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, driving under the influence of liquor or another substance and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
A female passenger in Humble’s vehicle also was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and public drunkenness.
Investigators were also looking into an earlier incident at a convenience store in Nettleton. According to the sheriff’s office, a man told deputies that Humble entered the store, pulled a gun on him and threatened him.
Store surveillance video reportedly showed Humble attempting to start a fight with a witness before pulling a gun. An employee stopped Humble at the door and prevented him from leaving until the other man had left, according to the report.
The investigation into the shooting and chase remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office said additional charges could be filed.
Sartin’s arrest and Young’s arrest are the latest developments in the investigation.
