JACKSON – Jackson police are investigating the city’s 53rd homicide of the year after a 28-year-old woman was shot and killed Thursday evening.
Robbery and homicide detectives were called to the 3000 block of Greenview Drive around 5:29 p.m. Aug. 20 after a report of a woman who had been shot, according to the Jackson Police Department.
When detectives arrived, officers at the scene said the victim had died from her injuries.
The woman was later identified as 28-year-old Jaylen Adams. Police said her next of kin has been notified.
Detectives and a crime scene investigator searched the area for evidence and surveillance video.
No suspect had been identified at the time of the department’s report.
The Hinds County coroner responded to the scene and took possession of Adams’ body.
