WIGGINS — Wiggins officials have revoked the beer permit of One Stop Fuel after a police investigation found that an undercover minor was able to purchase alcohol and nicotine products from the business, authorities said.
The Wiggins Mayor and Board of Aldermen unanimously voted Aug. 18 to revoke the business’s beer permit after reviewing the findings of the latest investigation and two previous investigations involving allegations of unlawful sales of age-restricted products, according to the Wiggins Police Department.
Police began the latest investigation July 22 after receiving complaints from multiple residents alleging that minor children were able to buy alcohol and nicotine products at One Stop Fuel.
The investigation was the third conducted by the department involving similar allegations against the business within the past 18 months, police said.
On Aug. 11, Wiggins police investigators conducted a compliance sting using an undercover minor. During the operation, the minor successfully purchased both alcohol and nicotine products from the business, authorities said.
Police presented the findings from the latest investigation, along with the results of the two previous investigations and information about previous convictions, to the mayor and Board of Aldermen on Aug. 18.
After reviewing the case files, the board voted unanimously to revoke One Stop Fuel’s beer permit.
“The safety and well-being of our children remains a top priority for the Wiggins Police Department,” the department said in its release. “We will continue to work diligently to enforce laws designed to protect minors and to hold accountable those who violate them.”
Police thanked residents who came forward with information and concerns and recognized the work of the department’s Investigations Division.
