STARKVILLE – Starkville police say a possible overdose call Tuesday evening led to a brief barricade situation that ended without incident.
Officers responded around 5:10 p.m. Aug. 18 to a home on Overstreet Drive after a concerned family member called 911 for help.
Police and medical personnel made contact with an adult man in the front yard and began evaluating him.
According to police, the man then started walking away from the residence while officers continued trying to speak with him. He later went inside the home and barricaded himself.
Officers continued communicating with the man and negotiated with him for about 30 minutes.
Police then entered the residence and secured him without incident.
The man was expected to be transferred for further mental health and medical treatment.
