JACKSON – Dusty has watched plenty of dogs come and go since arriving at Community Animal Rescue & Adoption, but shelter staff say his excitement for life has never faded.
The young dog came to CARA in November after a woman driving in Jackson spotted a group of strays. While the other dogs scattered, Dusty jumped into her car when she opened the door.
Shelter staff said he arrived underweight at about 36 pounds but quickly settled into life at CARA. At his most recent weigh-in, Dusty was around 55 pounds.
Now just over a year and a half old, Dusty is described as energetic, playful and affectionate. He enjoys racing around the dog park, playing with other dogs and spending time with the staff and volunteers who know him well.
CARA staff say Dusty has maintained the same happy personality he showed on the day he arrived.
“He wakes up happy, goes to bed happy,” the shelter said.
Dusty is also known for being affectionate and is considered a favorite among shelter staff.
After months of watching other dogs leave with their new families, CARA is hoping Dusty will soon get his turn.
