CLINTON – The city of Clinton is asking residents to help Public Works crews locate a significant water leak somewhere in the city’s water system.
City officials said the leak may not look like a typical water main break. It could be hidden underground or draining directly into a storm drain, ditch, creek or other drainage system, making it difficult to detect.
Residents are being asked to watch for unusual signs, including water flowing into a ditch or storm drain when it has not rained, standing water in unexpected places, water bubbling from the ground or areas of roadway, yards or vacant lots that remain unusually wet.
Officials also said the sound of running water where it normally would not be heard could be a sign of the leak.
Anyone who notices something unusual is encouraged to report the location, even if they are unsure whether it is connected to the problem.

City officials said every report could help crews narrow down the source and protect the community’s water system.
