TUPELO – A man has been sentenced to 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl.
Jeremy McGee pleaded guilty Aug. 3 before Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims, according to First Circuit Court District Attorney Jason D. Herring.
Mims sentenced McGee to 12 years in prison and suspended an additional 28 years. McGee was also ordered to complete five years of post-release supervision after serving his prison sentence.
Because the conviction is for trafficking, McGee must serve the full 12-year sentence without the possibility of parole or early release, according to the district attorney’s office.
The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.
Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
