One person was killed Monday afternoon after an Amtrak train collided with a 2013 Ford Explorer at the railroad crossing near East Gallman and Allen roads.
According to Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley, the crash was reported around 3:22 p.m.
Authorities said the driver of the Ford Explorer died in the collision.
There were 178 passengers and six staff members aboard the Amtrak train. No injuries were reported among those on the train.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
