VICKSBURG — Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Vicksburg convenience store late Friday night.
Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded around 11 p.m. July 31 to Mission Mart, 1020 Mission 66, after receiving a report of an attempted armed robbery.
According to the preliminary investigation, two masked men approached the business. Police said one suspect remained outside while the other entered the store, approached the counter and demanded money while claiming to have a firearm in his pocket.
The store clerk told the suspect there was no money in the cash register. The suspect walked toward the entrance before returning to the counter and demanding money a second time. After again being told there was no money available, the suspect left the business.
The clerk told investigators they saw what appeared to be a silver-colored firearm in the suspect’s pocket, but the weapon was never removed or displayed.
Both suspects fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported, and no money or property was taken.
