JACKSON – FMOL Health | St. Dominic has received the American College of Cardiology’s HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence, becoming the first hospital in central Mississippi to earn the designation.
St. Dominic is one of 100 hospitals nationwide recognized through the program, which evaluates an organization’s commitment to comprehensive cardiovascular care, quality improvement and ongoing performance reporting.
Hospitals earning the HeartCARE Center designation must meet accreditation requirements that include participation in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, national cardiovascular data registries and targeted quality-improvement initiatives.
St. Dominic previously received Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation through ACC Accreditation Services.
“Earning the ACC HeartCARE Center designation reflects the unwavering commitment our teams bring to every patient every day,” said Michelle Self, senior director of the Mississippi Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Dominic.
Self said the recognition affirms the hospital’s efforts to provide advanced and compassionate cardiovascular care close to home for Mississippi patients.
The American College of Cardiology said designated hospitals demonstrate consistent, high-quality heart care through process improvement, specialized accreditation, professional excellence and community engagement.
“FMOL Health | St. Dominic has shown a strong commitment to delivering outstanding heart care to the Jackson community,” said Dr. Steven B. Deitelzweig, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board.
St. Dominic is a 453-bed hospital in Jackson serving central Mississippi. The health system employs about 3,700 people and has a medical staff of more than 700 physicians and specialists.
