GREENVILLE – A 63-year-old Greenville man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Harold Charles.
Charles was found dead Saturday, July 25, at a residence in the 200 block of North Seventh Street.
Investigators arrested Anthony Winder on Monday, July 27, following an investigation by the Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Police said detectives collected and analyzed evidence, interviewed witnesses and followed multiple leads before making the arrest.
Winder was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending an initial court appearance.
Chief Marcus R. Turner Sr. praised the officers, investigators and assisting agencies involved in the case.
“Our investigators worked diligently around the clock to ensure this case moved forward quickly and professionally,” Turner said. “While an arrest has been made, our commitment to seeking justice for Mr. Charles and his family continues.”
The investigation remains active.
