PEARL RIVER COUNTY – Two people have been arrested in an investigation involving a 14-year-old girl who was reported to be pregnant, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said it received a law enforcement referral from the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services around June 30. The report was made anonymously.

Investigators immediately opened a case and obtained felony arrest warrants for two people.

Dawson James Brown was arrested Friday, July 17, on one count of statutory rape, two counts of sexual battery and one count of human trafficking, authorities said.

Sabrina Brown was arrested the same day on warrants charging her with conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence and child neglect.

Because the case involves a juvenile, authorities asked the public not to identify or share information that could reveal the victim’s identity.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.

Anyone with credible information is asked to contact the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Central Investigations Division at 601-403-2530.
