JACKSON — Jackson police are investigating after a man was found dead in a ditch Saturday morning.
Officers with the Jackson Police Department’s Precinct 3 responded around 8:30 a.m. Saturday to Holmes Avenue near Larkspur Drive after receiving a report of a deceased man.
Police said a passerby was walking along Holmes Avenue when he discovered the unresponsive man in a ditch and called 911. AMR, the Robbery/Homicide Division and the Hinds County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Christopher Blakely. According to the Hinds County Coroner’s Office, Blakely is believed to have been dead for several hours before he was found. His family has been notified.
Police have not released any suspect information. The investigation is ongoing.
