RIDGELAND – Mississippi parents will be able to obtain birth certificates, school immunization records and certain vaccinations for their children during a two-week back-to-school event hosted by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The one-stop event will be held weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20 through July 31 at the MSDH Office of Vital Records, 222 Marketridge Drive in Ridgeland.
Parents of children who are current on required vaccinations may receive a free copy of the child’s Certificate of Immunization Compliance, also known as Form 121. Birth certificates will also be available at the same location.
Nurses will administer immunizations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 and July 30.
Mississippi schools require parents to provide a Form 121 before enrollment. A child’s birth certificate is also required for school registration.
Birth certificates will cost $17, with additional certified copies available for $6 each. Payments may be made by cash, money order or credit card.
Parents may complete a birth certificate application before attending the event by visiting the MSDH website.
Certified immunization records may also be printed through MyIRMobile.com.
State law requires children entering public or private school, Head Start or daycare to be immunized against certain childhood diseases. Additional vaccinations are required for students entering seventh grade.
